Ronin Budo

Karate

Karate is taught by Ronin Budo's founder, Dr Charles Spring.

The style of karate that we teach is Shukokai, a very traditional style that emphasises adapting techniques for your body type. A typical class will consist of a short warm up, technique drills, some practice of a series of set moves called kata, and practice of the application of kata (called Bunkai). Classes are relatively formal, with the use of some Japanese style etiquette. A traditional outfit called a Gi is usually worn.

Karate is taught on Mondays and Thursdays.

Kickboxing

Kickboxing is a popular combat sport based on kicking and punching. Less formal that karate, classes are a good workout based on punching and kicking drills. As kickboxing is a contact sport, sparing is also done, working to the level of the participants. Shorts and T-shirts are usually worn with extra equipment needed for sparring.

Kickboxing is taught on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturday mornings, with different sessions depending on age.

Our Kickboxing instructors are Charles Spring, Rob Haigh, Phil Score, Joe Wright and Charlie Spring.

Here at Ronin Budo, we know that sometimes walking into the dojo for the first time can be the most difficult part of starting a new hobby. All of our instructors are friendly and are ready to answer any questions that you may have. Please feel free to contact us for a discussion of your training needs.
